Working with Health Professionals
I help health professionals understand their reactions to work-related stress and use therapy to increase awareness of their personal dynamics and how these affect their professional roles. With my extensive experience with AHPRA, I also support practitioners dealing with AHPRA processes. |
Promoting Recovery in People with Mental Illness
Mental health systems often focus on medication for conditions like schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. While medication is important, people with mental illness also face significant social and psychological challenges. I provide long-term therapy for people with mental health disorders using Metacognitive Reflection and Insight Therapy (MERIT) (could be linked to here https://www.meritinstitute.org/). This therapy promotes gradual recovery through a self-exploratory approach within the therapeutic relationship, helping individuals develop more complex understandings of themselves and others over time. The treatment is typically long-term. |
Anxiety and Depression
Periods of low mood and/or anxiousness may be common but can become severe and impact your quality of life, leading to distress, despair, and isolation. Psychotherapy, along with empathetic support, has been proven effective in enhancing self-understanding and helping you make sense of these experiences. When necessary, I work with other mental health and medical professionals to offer a comprehensive approach to support you during difficult times. |
Relationship Patterns
People often seek therapy due to disruptive interpersonal experiences. These issues can stem from personality vulnerabilities, such as a fragile sense of self, emotional reactivity, and difficulties in relationships. By providing structure and psychoeducation, we can work towards you gaining an understanding of these patterns and explore new ways to develop a more stable sense of self and healthier perceptions of others. The therapeutic relationship may be instrumental in fostering self-understanding and facilitating change over time. |
